Girvan FC, the Seasiders, have played at Hamilton Park since the club was formed in 1947. It is proper non-league Scottish football: a railed pitch, a small stand, grass banking, a tea bar, and the trains running past behind the stand. If you are staying in Girvan on a Saturday when they are at home, it is a very good way to spend an afternoon.
The club
- Founded: 1947. Known as the Amateurs until 2004, and the Seasiders since.
- Colours: black and blue.
- League: founder members of the West of Scotland Football League in 2020. After the league's 2026 reconstruction, Girvan play in the Second Division in 2026-27, a sixteen-club division at the eighth tier of Scottish football.
- History: for most of their history Girvan were a senior club in the South of Scotland League, which they won in 1989-90, adding its League Cup four times. As full members of the Scottish FA they entered the Scottish Cup every year, and when they moved into junior football in 2004 they kept that place, qualifying directly for the Scottish Cup every season from 2007. Their best modern run came in 2010-11, reaching the third round before losing 4-2 at Stranraer. In junior football they were Ayrshire League champions in 2015-16 and won the Super League Division One in 2016-17.
An earlier Girvan FC, with no connection to today's club, played from 1874 to 1886 and took part in the early Scottish Cup.
Hamilton Park
Hamilton Park is on Vicarton Street, KA26 9HF, at the north end of town, just off the A77 and right beside Girvan railway station, about 200 yards away, directly behind the stand. Facilities are simple:
- A small covered stand with about 200 seats, plus grass banking round the pitch.
- A tea bar in the clubroom serving hot food.
- A car park at the entrance.
- A war memorial garden at the ground.
Admission was around £6 in 2025. We could not find published accessibility information; contact the club through its social media if you need to check access.
Fixtures
Most home games are on Saturday afternoons from late July to the spring, with cup ties in between. Fixtures, results and tables are on the West of Scotland Football League website, and the club posts on its social media. Check before you go: Scottish non-league football is very prone to weather postponements in winter.
